Many talented people will sell you on a so-called system that will streamline your business and make it more efficient. While it’s absolutely true that better systems and procedures will help, the problem with this singular approach is that you can’t separate systems and procedures from the rest of what is going on.

So what’s the right approach? Let’s find out!

Here are two takeaways from Season 6 Episode 7:

  1. Bring in the expertise you need.

While there may be value in the people who identify as a “jack of all trades’… in most situations you’re going to want to match specific expertise to the specific solution you’re investing in. This will allow you to maximize the potential and results that you have invested in.

  1. What lights you up is important.

As a business owner there will be things that you have to do, but your primary focus should be on the things that you love to do. It doesn’t mean you ignore any important work; rather you focus your partnerships on the areas that drain you (or in which you aren’t a specialist). Spend the most time on the things you do best.
