If you are like many of the people I speak with, perhaps you will relate to this statement: Crafting catchy titles for my newsletter and email campaigns is painful!

Great news–you are not alone! And today, I want to share with you two title formulas which will increase the number of people clicking through to your blogs and opening your emails.

Two Title Formulas Guaranteed To Increase Your Open Rates

Goal: Increase the open rate on your blog posts and email newsletters by crafting catchy titles.

Title Formula #1: Use Emotion

Emotion will move your readers to take action. In the world of copywriting, we often say, “People either move toward pleasure or run from pain.” Pleasure and pain can be very subtle. I get pleasure from a workout or from learning something new. Another emotion that causes people to take action is scarcity. You can convey scarcity by putting deadlines on your offers or sell a limited number of items.

Think about the emotions your clients and customers want to feel.

  • Safe?
  • Happy?
  • Relieved?
  • Confident?

Consider your client’s perspective for just a few moments. Once you identify the emotion, write a headline with that emotion in mind.
